Carlton Beach House 2
This large four-bedroom house sits across the road from the beach. It was designed to create shared areas for the whole family while providing opportunities for different generations to have a sense of space for work, study and leisure.
Utilisation of split levels separated by a landscaped thriving native garden in the courtyard provides two functional areas. One caters primarily for the whole family and parents, the other for the younger family members and guests. Both house and garden are north facing and sun filled.
The upper level contains the main kitchen – dining area and lounge. A set of triple stacker thermally broken doors enables both flexible use of space and climate control. The doors lead onto the main covered deck which overlooks the courtyard garden directly below and the lower level beyond.
The large master bedroom in the upper level has a walk-through robe to the ensuite featuring floor to ceiling tiles. The subway tiles with a touch of green blend seamlessly with the joinery. A discrete office space overlooks the top courtyard.
The lower wing opens onto the garden facing north and sheltered from the prevailing wind. The lower level also hosts three bedrooms, a bathroom and access to the workshop - garage.
The house is clad with James Hartdie Axon. A tiled deck and native garden aims to deliver a low maintenance home in a coastal environment.

Testimonial
2B Building owned by Jess and Catherine Bateman and based at Carlton Beach were recommended to us by a professional architect.
Three years ago the build with a 360 sq metre rooftop was completed.
We found the whole experience to be enjoyable and with complete trust in Jess' judgement. He made several minor adjustments to our plan which were obvious improvements and at no extra cost.
We thoroughly recommend 2B building to anyone contemplating a build or significant renovation.
