Connellys Marsh Holiday Home

Sitting on a waterfront headland overlooking Norfolk Bay at Connellys Marsh this family holiday home has been architect designed for functionality, flexibility and comfort.

A central living area is flanked by two separate accommodation modules. The three units are linked and surrounded by a sweeping glass walled Macrocarpa deck.

The central open plan living area provides for formal entertaining of guests yet is the perfect setting for the owners, friends and family to relax. A beautiful Russian Birch kitchen at one end of the living area enables preparation of gourmet meals and holiday feasts. Large windows at the other end frame the view of the bay stretching from the Tasman Peninsula to the beach below. A unique stone fireplace and chimney is central to the expansive dining and living area. Crafted Tas Oak and fabricated steel ceiling trusses support a black ply and timber slat ceiling. In summer family, friends and guests are drawn to the decks and outside dining areas. In winter the imposing fireplace becomes a drawcard. The open fire complements the under-slab heating and creates an unparalleled atmosphere where guests bask in the heat while admiring the views.

The two accommodation modules are similar from the outside while the owners' master bedroom is very spacious. A walk-in robe and ensuite with a shower overlooks the beach below. The other accommodation module consists of two bedrooms, a laundry and a bathroom with the freestanding bath overlooking the other side of the bay. The separation of both the modules from the living areas provides for the needs of those who are spending time at the holiday home.

The owners were seeking a low maintenance timber exterior. The heat modified timber cladding product utilised in the project achieves that goal. It withstands the elements with very minimal ongoing maintenance. This product is matched with manufactured stone providing the lower half of the cladding and extending to the chimney.

Testimonial

We were introduced to 2B Building and Jesse Bateman through the recommendation of our architect. What really cemented the relationship was Jesse's openness and frankness in our early discussions and the fact that he only took on one major project at a time. This gave us reassurance that our project would have his full attention.

As the project progressed we were very impressed by the way in which Jesse took on board all the little changes we made. Not only that, but he also came up with suggestions not to make his life easier but suggestions that would greatly improve the liveability of the house.

The build was completed on time and on budget and was an exciting and enjoyable time for us thanks to Jesse's quiet and assuming manner, helpful advice, and professional competence.

2B Building have built an amazing house for us, that all our family and friends will enjoy for years.
